Restaurant Week – Il Mulino: Chicago Date Ideas

I know this blog is geared more towards “romance” but I am taking a bit more casual approach for this post. After an incredible past Friday, I must share with you my experience at Il Mulino for Restaurant Week with 9 dashing ladies. I swear some of these women I “date” more than my actual boyfriend. Sorry babe! But I cannot begin to express the romance that exhilarates throughout this restaurant, which actually used to be a magnificent mansion back in the day.
As you know (and if you don’t know how Restaurant Week works by now, shame on you!), it is a $33 pre-fixed 3 course meal. As soon as we sat down, the Italian waiter presented us with the enticing menu.

With chandeliers dotting the ceiling, the dining room is really quite striking. Attempting to go unnoticed by the quiet, hush hush diners, I snuck a quick pic. This really does not do it justice.
For the first course (Primi), I selected the Rugola.
Don’t judge my rabbit food. The simplicity and lightness is what made this pre-course so perfect. The fresh shaved Parmesan rocks and left my tummy plenty of room for the Entree.
You had me at champagne truffle cream sauce. Ravioli Porcini was with out a doubt, the easiest choice of the evening.
The decadent sauce is balanced by the right proportioned amount of raviolis.
Last but not least, the coconut sorbet.
A sweet, fluffy cloud straight from the sky. If you know me, a meal is not satisfying without ending on a sweet note.
Take a peak at my neighbor’s Dolci…she went with the homemade Italian cheesecake.
This is noooo Ely’s…

Oh but wait…a surprise! A complimentary glass of a little somethin’ somethin’ to cap the night off.
Although I cannot for the life of me remember what this is called (and a little bit too strong to my liking), I felt like a true Italian!
Kindly note, that this place does not accept 10 separate credit cards. We learned the hard way (and we most certainly know better….but the 3 extra bottles of wine ripped us of our cash flow!). If you are lucky enough to grab a reservation here before the end of the week, take your sweetie here…she will feel like a true Italian bella!

Ciao.
