Why You Should Shop Local

Last month my favorite local boutique, Kie & Kate, asked me to “model” their new summer pieces. You see…I get mistaken for Giselle all the time. So naturally they wanted to book me.

I believe in shopping and eating local for several reasons….

  • You support your community. Which makes you feel great about yourself.
  • Customer service is a 100! They know each customer (and you may even be their neighbor) so you aren’t just another number.
  • They’ll go the extra mile for you. Want them to hold something you think you’ll love. They’ll do it.
  • You get to know the owner/s. So cool in my book.
  • Fun events in your neighborhood. Wine and shopping? Yes please.
  • It’s. The. Bomb. And you can find unique items no one else has.

Backstory: I meet the owner of Kie & Kate last fall after moving to Elmhurst. I reached out to the owner, Kati (completely blind) and asked if she’d like to do a fashion event together. I knew no one in my new town and wanted to do something fun. Kati, who is a doll, agreed in a heart beat and it’s been true love ever since. Her store that is.

What’s crazy about this little boutique? She KILLS it. I mean killlllllls it. Kie & Kate has a cult like following and her pieces fly off the shelf immediately. She even takes orders over social media, through email and on the phone. Her customers trust her like nothing I’ve ever seen in the city.

I wish I knew all the designers and brands I was wearing above, but note everything is under $80 and great quality! You can always call or email her {P: (630) 501-0569 and E: Info@kiekatecouture.com} if you see something you like! FYI – the last photo is my outfit, but loved her storefront in the background. If you are ever in Elmhurst, 100% stop by. You’ll find all kinds of “on trend” items for a fabulous price.

With the Nordstrom Anniversary sale happening, I thought I would send a little reminder to support your local stores! Which by the way – I have a fun post for you on that tomorrow.

A huge thank you to Kimberly Felton Photography for snapping these pics! If you live in the suburbs, be sure to check her out too. She also taught me a few photography tips too, which I’m really excited about.

Do you shop local? What are your favorites? I’m also obsessed with Brewpoint – my favorite coffee in the entire world.
