Hi friends! Are you ready for Thanksgiving? I’m spending it with Sean’s family this year and it’s going to be quite the crowd! Babies. Dogs. Friends. It’s going to be awesome.
But let me guess. You haven’t done a thing and Thanksgiving is tomorrow. Guilty. Not to mention you’re meeting your friends at the local saloon in one hour. You’ll just whip up the pies, the appetizers and your famous pasta dish in the morning right?

Then tomorrow comes around and low and behold, you’ve caught a bad case of the Tequila Flu and you’re just not up for all the intentions you had yesterday. It’s always going around on Black Wednesday.
Well great news! I rounded up some last minute contributions, that will not only make you look like you are way more put together than what you are. But they take the Thanksgiving game up an entire notch. Ambiance. Fun. And all that good conversation. The best.
Enjoy my friends!
Shut Everyone Up (AKA Great Movies To Watch That Everyone Will Love) – For Adults: I added some special notes below if you haven’t heard of them
- Good Will Hunting
- When Harry Meet Sally
- The Holiday (just the best)
- The King’s Speech
- Inside Man (you’ll never guess what happens)
- Brooklyn (playing in select theaters, but will be released “nationwide on November 25th. Rotten Tomatoes gives it a — very rare — 99% rating.” I’m intrigued.)
- Great Expectations
- Sliding Doors (my favorite movie and for some reason no one knows about it)
- The Untouchables (this movie has captions. I get so annoyed because you won’t want to rent it because of it – but it is one of the best movies out there. Try it for 20 minutes and you will be hooked. You can always turn it off if the captions aren’t your thing.)
- Legends of the Fall
- Pride and Prejudice
- The Family Stone (just watched this and laughed and cried my eyes out.)

- Did you know if you take your shoes off you can eat more?
- If you were only allowed to eat one thing for Thanksgiving, what would it be?
- If you weren’t allowed to visit family members for Thanksgiving, what would you do?
Show Off and Be Considered the Next Martha Stuart Without Lifting a Finger. You’ve completely procrastinated and you are running late. These are perfect grabs or quick makes at the party. And they look thoughtful.
- Mariano’s Cheese Platters: they have $10 pre-made ones or they can customize it for you. I always ask for a slice of honeycomb. They are even served on wooden planks and beautiful!
- Tortellini Skewers and Pesto Sauce: purchase the already made pesto and just boil the noodles. It has to be made on the spot, so it looks like you planned it just that way.
- Baby Pickles and Mustard: Place the pickles in one jar and the mustard (I suggest stone ground) in the other for dipping. Even the health nuts love this.
- Baked Brie and Apple Slices: throw a wheel in the oven and slice up the apples.
- Caprese Salad w/ Avocado: everyone knows about caprese, but adding avocado takes it up a notch.
- Walnuts w/ a Nut Cracker: for some reason people love cracking these nuts while socializing. So rewarding. Cracking that nut takes work! And no cooking either.
- Jar of Salsa and Velveeta: melted in the microwave. Not the fanciest, but a crowd pleaser. Just add tortilla chips.
- Make Your Own Cheese Platter: 1 or 3 cheeses is the most pleasing to the eye. Add nuts, pickles and honey for some extra glam. Or just add crostinis.
