I went to the new and fabulous restaurant Gilt the other weekend in River North with chef, Brendan Sodikoff, from THE French Laundry in Napa Valley. The atmosphere is a surprising mixture of rustic and trendy and the food does the taste buds good. All the plates on the menu are designed for sharing…this way you can try more goodies and have more interaction with your partener. And I swear the vegetables were picked straight out of the garden that day. The best part? The prices! They have a $5 red and white house wine and a $2PBR beer option…definitely beats the $15 martinis at a typical Chicago fine dining place. Appetizers and Entrees follow suite. So if you are looking for a “hot spot” to take your date with “gilt” free prices, this is the way to go!
