Lakeshore East

The other week I joined some Chicago bloggers to check out the city’s up and coming urban neighborhood, Lakeshore East. Remember when I did a Local Loves post on Marianos? Same area.

We started off at the penthouse in the Coast building, which had just signed a three year lease at $10,000 per month. She was a beauty with killer views. We were only there to look of course…

{just one of TWO balconies}
And can we take a moment to admire this walk-in closet with a window?!

I would sip champagne in here daily and admire my imaginary Christian Louboutin shoe collection.

One of the main reasons I attended this little shindig (besides meeting and mingling with other bloggers) is that the Cedar and Rush household is looking to expand their living area. Things are getting a little tight now that we have a new pup in the mix. So the opportunity to check out this hidden neighborhood in the middle of the hustle and bustle was not something I wanted to pass up.

{common terrace area}
Talk about all the restaurants, the amenities, gardens, lakeside, the sweeping sky lines and so many other fun things…

This area used to be an old golf course, now turned park, that sits right in the middle of all the buildings (kind of like a mini Central Park). We actually took little Larry (our puppy) to the uber fancy dog park here the weekend before. It’s a great place for families and a really safe area for single ladies.

{midnight dip anyone?}
{people eating dinner around this fire pit – and no, this is not staged!}
We ended the evening with some apps and cocktails at III Forks; a high end steakhouse with a gorgeous outdoor terrace.

And little ‘ole me}

I love exploring new neighborhoods in the Windy City and this was the ultimate grand tour. I feel like it can be so hard to get out of your bubble sometimes.

Also loved chatting with these fabulous ladies. You should really check out their blogs too. One of them just published a grilled cheese cookbook!

What’s your favorite Chicago neighborhood? Any area you wish you knew better? I challenge you to get out of your “bubble” this week and do something new too.
