A Short Trip To San Francisco

I know social media gets a bad wrap these days but ONE cool thing remains. The wealth of information and knowledge at your finger tips!

So when Sean and I booked a trip to San Fran with just 48 hours to spare, I left our itinerary in the hands of YOU GUYS. And let me tell you. You guys know your stuff! Seriously. I think I have the savviest, most cultured supporters out there. You make me look so cool when I have no clue about anything.

And guess what? Sean and I did 90% of it! So here’s a recap of your ideas and what we did. You can also bookmark the Instagram post and save it when you go to San Fran too.

We unfortunately couldn’t do everything but I plan to hit up the remainder suggestions when I return!

I divided your suggestions into 2 categories: “What We Did” and “What We’ll Do Next Time”.

WHAT WE DID
{I included some extra notes after each suggestion too!}

  • mrssrg: San Fran is always freezing, pack a jacket! And pop into all the oyster happy hours you want. Thanks Steph! I lived in my trench and scarf the entire time.
  • ewin4: Go to Rose’s Cafe for breakfast and you’ll thank me! Erin, I thank you, thank you, thank you! Rose’s is such a charming cafe and their French Toast was the best French Toast I’ve EVER had. Hands down.
  • kippcord I would do old school drinks at the Buena Vista Cafe. (Where the Irish Coffee was invented Irish Coffee was invented). Top of the Mark (or the Starlight Room) for drinks and a view. Thank you Chris! These were two of my favorite things we did. The Irish Coffee is soooooooooo good – and you can’t taste a lick of Whiskey. Also, Top of the Mark’s views feel as if you’re sitting on top of a cloud. You can see the entire city, mountains, Golden Gate Bridge and Ocean. Heaven! Also, a special thanks to Ryan Koop who suggested Buena Vista too!
  • hotpinkstyle55: I second Rose’s for breakfast! ?? Fabulous call Jill! Yum.
  • suzanne_sykes: Union street is so cute (we had brunch at Rose’s), as is Pacific Heights) great for photos in front of cute houses)! Thanks so much Suzanne! Rose’s was gorgeous and where I took these colorful photos. Xx
  • ashsandee
    • Tartine Bakery (600 Guerrero Street) – Amazing breakfast pastries. Such a famous place and for good reason. YUM! Sean and I grabbed some desserts to go. I brought my mom back some cookies as a thank you for watching Larry!
    • If you go to the Ferry Building, be sure to get some Blue Bottle coffee. Intelligensia allegedly stole their brewing process but these guys do it so much better. Went here twice, thanks Ashley! I also snagged my dad a bag of coffee beans as a thanks for watching Larry too!
  • jenn_kathryn: Yassss was just there! Definitely hit Tartine Bakery and Blue Bottle CoffeeThank you so much Jenn. As mentioned above, loved both these charming spots! Heaven.

WHAT WE’LL DO NEXT TIME

  • rdulay: Go to Tacobar – SOOOO GOOD!
  • ewin4Ace Wasabi for fab sushi and Slanted Door! Enjoy!
  • hotpinkstyle55: Take outfit pictures at the Palace of Fine Arts! It’s one of my favorite places in the world!! So pretty!!
  • suzanne_sykes: Definitely bike over the bridge to Sausalito or Tiburon (we stopped in Sausalito for lunch then continued onto Tiburon where we had cocktails on the water) and take the ferry back! Lombard street is stunning (the flowers ????) and so are the views from the top! And the crab at Fisherman’s Warf is the best I’ve ever had! If you decide to take a day in Napa, I have recs for that too!! Have fun! xo
  • ashsandee:
    • Kabuto (5121 Geary Boulevard) – The best sushi you will ever have. Be warned that it will ruin you for all Chicago sushi moving forward. The owner used to be the head chef to the royal family in Japan. The place is super small and cozy so I highly recommend you make a reservation. (415) 752-5652
    • Bar Crudo (655 Divisadero St.) – Newish spot that is more fine dining. They have really great oysters and other seafood. Try to sit at the seafood bar to watch the chefs if you go.
    • Swan’s Oyster Depot (1517 Polk St.) – Great lunch spot that fills up fast. Recommend getting in line around 11a and you should have no prob getting seated in 15 mins. The seafood salad and clam chowder are killer and none of the frozen stuff they give tourists at Fisherman’s Warf.
    • Dotties – Legendary diner. Perfect if you are staying in the Financial District near Union Square.
  • jenn_kathryn: Yassss was just there! Definitely hit Bi-Rite Creamery, Philz Coffee (mojito), State Bird Provisions, and be sure to see Sutro Baths and Palace of Fine Arts!

Also, let this remind you to ask for recommendations when you have an upcoming trip! Whether it be Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, I’ve found people are eager to share their favorite spots. Even people you haven’t talked to in YEARS!

Have you been to San Fran? Any spots I’m missing?

Thank you again for all your help friends and making it a trip I’ll never forget. San Fran I love you!
