What is The Guest List

Happy Monday friends! You are going to LOVE today’s feature. If you’re new here, welcome to Cedar & Rush! The Guest List is a weekly series where you get the inside scoop from smart, savvy and stylish people. I believe you can get where you want faster by learning from the best. Which gives us the confidence and courage to make changes to our lives.

Meet Lisa of Imagine It Done

Today’s guest will change your life. She did mine! Organizational guru, Lisa, of Imagine It Done, has transformed the most envious closets, refrigerators and pantries of alllll Manhattan. After discovering her through Something Navy (Lisa’s client), I spent more time than I’d like to admit scrolling through every single post of her Instagram feed. Lisa and her team make tidying up look so easy and I’ve never seen more satisfying ‘Before & Afters’.

Imagine It Done is also VERY generous in giving away organizational tricks, resources and recommended products you can do yourself. I already bought her favorite hangers and Mojito wrinkle release she suggests on her homepage (just scroll down a smidge and a you’ll see it!). Lets just say this is ONE Instagram account you NEED in your life. I could gush about Lisa for hours, but no need to steal her thunder since she’s HERE today.

Lisa, the floor’s all yours!

Lisa, it’s such a treat having you here! Why don’t you tell us a bit about yourself and what you do! My name is Lisa Jacobs, I am the president of Imagine It Done, a home organization service. I grew up on Long Island, and now live in Manhattan. My company serves clients in New York City and the surrounding areas. My mantra is an organized space is an organized mind is an organized life!

What time do you typically get up and go to bed? Typically get up at 7:30AM, typically go to bed at 1:30AM (but my staff will tell you I send emails much later!)

How do you take your coffee? I make an iced cappuccino every morning with my Nespresso.

Name 3 things every woman should have in her closet: A fabulous sweater, a perfectly fitting crisp white blouse and a grey or black pair of trousers. I’m all about having classic pieces that will always be in style.

What’s your favorite adult beverage to serve guests when entertaining at home? I love entertaining! I typically use a small silver classic tray and white cocktail napkins. My go to offering is Cake Bread Chardonnay. I always have a bottle (or three) on hand!

What’s one thing everyone can do to make their home more stylish? Good lighting can transform a space! On every light switch there should be a dimmer to bring ambiance into your home, most importantly in the living room!

What’s your favorite thing to bring to a party? Flowers, every time. My ‘go to are’ loose flowers, wrapped in plastic with a nice ribbon. Not an arrangement of white tulips.

How do you format your emails? It depends on who the recipient is. If it’s a friendly email, I chat it up and always end in “xoxoxo” sometimes too many! If its business email, I keep it concise. I always sign off with “best” or “warm regards”.

What’s the most recent thing someone did that impressed you? Truthfully, I just got a handwritten note from somebody that told me how inspiring I am and that they look forward to my daily posts and tips every day. She was so genuine in telling me how my tricks on decluttering have changed her life, and that’s what it’s all about. The personalization of this thank you really impressed me and stood out in my world of social media driven communication.

What mistake do you see people constantly make that they should be aware of? Cluttering tabletops! When you keep your tabletops (coffee, entry way, dining etc.) neat and clear, your home will always look more put together and you’ll feel lighter!

What other pieces of advice/tips can you share? If you’re taking on the project of organization, focus on one space at a time, and always have someone else assisting you whether it be a friend or a professional.  Also, make the decision in advance to be willing to edit and part with some of your things. Saying goodbye is therapeutic! The hardest part is getting started, but once you see the difference in your home, you’ll never want to look back! On a separate note, never leave the house without these essentials: make up, medicine and “in case of emergencies” (mophi included!).
