  • To fit more in your bag and prevent wrinkles, roll your clothes.
  • To pack less, mix and match by selecting a cohesive color scheme with your clothes.

These are great and all, but let’s learn something new shall we?! Below are 6 travel tips you’ve never heard before…

6 TIPS FOR PACKING YOU DON’T KNOW

These come from my husband {who travels a lot for work} and myself – who get’s around once in awhile 😉 You’re bound to find something you can apply on your next trip, saving you time, space and easy travel.

1. Get a carry on bag that slides over your rolling luggage handle {like this!}: A securely placed carry on that fits snug on your roller, frees up your hands, lightens your load and allows you to glide through any airport, street and train station effortlessly.

2. If you’re a last minute packer, here’s the best tip EVER. Check the weather of your destination 10-14 days before your trip. {FYI – WWW.WEATHER.ORG is the most accurate resource out there. I know this due to a friend who dated a weather man once! LOL}. You’ll subconsciously make a mental checklist, which gets you half way there. You’ll assess what needs to be washed, taken to the dry cleaner and what you still need AHEAD OF TIME. When it comes to the actual packing, it’s ten times faster because you’ve already put some thought into it! Versus starting from scratch and realizing all your favorite jeans are dirty!. Although this isn’t best practice, it’s a short cut to appease us people who live on the fly.

3. Combine all your toiletries, makeup and jewelry in ONE bag: I used to think I needed separate bags for each category. WRONG. You’ll save an unbelievable amount of real estate by consolidating. I highly suggest a three fold toiletry bag. The compartments keep you organized and limits you on how much you take. Here’s how to consolidate like a pro:

-Remove everything from a box. Your contacts, makeup, lotions, etc. should all be taken out of their original packaging. It may not seem like it, but these boxes are big space hogs. Same goest for vitamins and pills. Count out and bring what you need {versus bringing the whole bottle}. A plastic baggy or pill box work great. BINGO.
-Downsize the not so obvious. If you buy your makeup & lotions at department stores, ALWAYS ask for sample sizes {even if you don’t have a trip planned}. They’re FREE and you’ll be thankful you did! I call ‘best practice’.
-Audit your makeup. Our makeup bags get bogged down with multiple eye shadows, lip glosses and tubes of mascara. Pick your favorite and bring one of each!
-Don’t unpack the necessities. Make a permanent spot for travel sized toothpastes, shampoo, razors, etc. in your travel toiletry bag. There’s no need to ever unpack them. You’ll never forget the necessities and you’ll save time packing and unpacking too.

5 and 6. To get THE LAST 2 tips {WHICH ARE THE BEST!}, head over to Vera Bradley’s blog here. Learn the SECRET spot to get dropped off at the airport and a scientifically proven method for fitting more in smaller spaces.
