The Most Versatile Wine To Serve At Thanksgiving

The conundrum of whether to serve red or white wine at Thanksgiving is a popular debate. Just Google it and you’ll see what I mean.

So I’m here to settle this great mystery once and for all. Scroll below to find out the unexpected contender and how to make it extra festive!

The Most Versatile Wine and Why

Pour the bubbly my friends! Did you know sparkling wine and champagne is the most VERSATILE wine? Which is why it’s a sommelier favorite. It not only compliments the turkey, but each side dish as well! With so many flavors swirling around on your plate, it’s almost impossible to pair a red or white that compliments your sweet potatoes and savory stuffing.

Since sparkling wine goes with EVERYTHING be sure to stock up on a few bottles this week! I also find bubbly sits a little lighter and tantalizes those taste buds – which helps balance out such a Thanksgiving heavy meal! Despite not drinking this year, I’m bringing a couple bottles of my favorite – 90+ Cellars Lot 49 Sparkling Rosé. It’s made in Italy and I of course love the label. If you sign up for their newsletter they’re offering a Black Friday surprise!

How To Make It Festive

Now I know some of you are thinking…. rosé?! I drink that in the summer. But despite it’s pink color, it’s quite dry and tastes just like a brut champagne. And if you still don’t think rosé is festive enough for the holidays, here’s a fun way to garnish your glasses – which makes for a beautiful welcome cocktail without the hassle of shaking or stirring.

Champagne Garnishes

orange slices
frozen cranberries or cherries
pomegranate seeds
sprig of rosemary

Tips: Display a rosemary topiary so guests can snip their own sprigs! It keeps things interactive and doubles as decor. I also love using frozen fruit so your bubbly stays chilled longer.

Our Thanksgiving Plans

Now that we’ve got the drinks out of the way, what are you doing for Thanksgiving?

We’re spending ours with my family and my mom is making EVERYTHING. Given I’m the only child and all our family lives out of state, it will be just the four of us all week {me, Sean, my mom and dad}. But my grandma will join us on Thanksgiving Day! We typically bum around the house, stuffing our face, while the dogs beg for food. My mom and I will decorate Christmas cookies {it’s our annual tradition!} and we’ll go see a good movie one night too. Any movie you’re dying to see? It’s just the best!

We also plan on getting our Christmas tree! Sean implemented a rule we have to get a real one so I’ve been trying to delay getting it as long as possible so it doesn’t die to early. I can’t wait to get the house all ready for the holidays and we have our first Christmas party Dec. 1st! Where is this year going?!!
