The Big Red Box

Did you know Chicago has one of the most fashionable destinations in the country? A few weeks ago, The Coveteur co-founder dished she made it a point to visit this exact spot while in town. She even packed a specific outfit! So what is this place? Also known as “the Big Red Box”, Ikram, is a piece of art in itself. A high end boutique, located in River North, they showcase the creme de la creme of designers. I can only dream of coming out with a token some day. But until then, I will stick with the city’s best kept secret upstairs.

One of the most special (and unknown) components about Ikram, is the delightful cafe on the second floor. Unexpectedly non-pretentious, it is filled with fashionable guests and clinking glasses. The menu is small and thoughtful and the amuse-bouches (on the house) are my favorite part. I went with the kale chips and a glass of dry Riesling this particular day.

So what’s the dress code you ask? Believe it or not I did not wear couture or one designer piece! Chicago has been quite chilly, so I went with my favorite upcoming Fall trend – the sweatshirt.

I paired this comfy top with an A-line black skirt (to nip and tuck my waist), a punky bag (to take the edge ON) and popped on a metallic pump for height. It’s quite comfortable but with a bit of flare. And why not a leather jacket to top it off. They work wonders don’t they? Have you tried the sweatshirt trend? I plan on picking up a few more. Oh, and still obsessed with my earrings. They go with everything…
