Our Sofa Review

You guys. I hate to brag, but our sectional is the most comfortable couch I’ve ever experienced. It’s almost tooooooo good. Sean’s falling asleep on it EVERY night. Ugh!

Sean comes from a large family. So when they visit, five of us can easily sprawl out,  with plenty of space on either side. After dinner parties, we enjoy retiring to our living room for some good ‘ol fashion cocktails and conversation. Everyone gets comfy, kicks off their shoes and lingers longer.S ince our space is smaller, it makes us happy, that despite the size, it’s functional and comfortable! Something that worried me dearly.

Thanks to the SmitheKote fabric protection and warranty – I come off as the coolestl host {and wife}. A few spills have already happened. Normally I’d freak out, but it blots out effortlessly. Thank. Goodness.

Lastly, Sean, Larry and I use it every single day. Since we both work from home, our sectional is part of our daily routine. We answer morning emails over coffee, with Larry (our pup) snuggled in between us! It’s also where Sean and I catch up and share stories after our days. Sean recently got back from Ireland – so we (AKA me and Lary!) piled on the sectional and streamed pictures from his trip on the TV. My favorite.

Our Couch Details:

If you like our sofa here, email my girl, Catherine Piscitelli, our Walter E. Smithe designer at CatherineP@Smithe.com! Remember it’s custom, so you can tweak anything. She’ll gladly share any details you’d like! Seriously, she’s the best in the biz and not pushy at all.

With Fall and the holidays coming up, this is the PERFECT opportunity for you to refresh your space too. Here are 5 simple ways to quickly style your couch.

4 Ways to Style Your Sofa

Walter E. Smithe let me pull lots of decor to show you ways to style your own space at home! The key to styling is accessorizing both on and around your couch. Here’s how!

  • Add Accent Pillows: Heaven forbid we use the pillows that come with our sofa, right?! Swapping out pillows is an interior designer trick that transforms the entire look of your leather sofas. They can lighten, darken, add texture and color to your entire room. It’s also a wonderful way to embrace the seasons. My mom always adds plaid pillows for the holidays and winter. Pillows are also the perfect way to incorporate trends that don’t break the bank. Hello buffalo check! If you’re a fan of Joanna Gaines, you’ll be excited to know you can buy her Magnolia Home line at Walter E. Smithe. All the pillows shown here are hers! Obsessed with the textures.
  • Throws: Throws are another way to add color and texture. In the summer, use light, airy materials. In the fall and winter opt for a cable knit or fur! It’s all about the textures baby. You can drape them all different ways too. Get creative!
  • Coffee Table: I like to refresh my coffee table vignette every season – especially right now. Tip: A free and cost effective way? Swap items from your bookshelves, kitchen or decor from other rooms to your living room. A cozy scented candle for autumn does the trick too. Bringing in new pieces are the BEST! Walter E. Smithe has so many exciting and unique items that work anywhere. Thee gold colanders here are actually individual floral vases from France! I used one of their artificial plants (looks so real) to bring life to our space. The gold tray acts as a catchall, which can easily be transported high when little ones come over!
  • Floor Decor: Adding a little something next to your sofa is a common missed opportunity to style your space. Most people don’t think about it! How fun are the floor sculptures? Tip: if you have a small space, select objects that are lucite or see through like these here. They make your room feel bigger and open.
  • Mix Shapes, Textures and Patterns: Not only is this rule important for your wardrobe, but the same rules apply for your home! Be conscious to mix shapes in your living room. Are you using all rectangles? Or all circles? Use both and don’t be afraid to incorporate odd shapes too. Mixing textures with pattern is another layer that adds depth to your space and makes you want to just jump right in.

Okay, now for the fun part. Before and Afters. I put the pictures side by side so you can see the differences. Also note, the pictures are taken of the same angles of the room. Looks so different!

BEFORE & AFTER!

It’s amazing how much bigger the room feels with the Walter E. Smithe sectional! It’s so much brighter too. Pretty remarkable what a couch can do to a room! We also have so much left to do –  like replace the rest of our furniture, add side tables, and add some fun lighting. And we hung up our curtains this weekend – which means we can FINALLY put art on the walls. Wahoo!
