What is The Guest List

Happy Monday friends! If you’re new here, welcome to Cedar & Rush! The Guest List is a weekly series where you get the inside scoop from smart, savvy and stylish people. I believe you can get where you want faster by learning from the best. Which gives us the confidence and courage to make changes to our lives. Pretty sweet gig huh?

Meet Annette of A Vintage Splendor

Today’s guest is the California vintage queen, Annette of A Vintage Splendor. First off, vintage ANYTHING is trending SO HARD right now. She’s so respected in the industry, she hosts vintage tours in LA. And once you see her, you’ll want to book a one way flight to Cali. She rounds up the COOLEST vintage finds on Ebay & Etsy and she’s dominating the blogger world with huge brand collaborations and features. Her style is insane and this goes for her home too (it was featured on Domino!). But believe it or not, this is just the tip of the iceberg of what Annette is up to.

Take it away Annette!

Annette, what a treat to have you today!! Tell us about yourself and what you do. Hello! I’m Annette and I live in beautiful Pasadena with my husband and daughter. Although people don’t think we exist, I’m a native Angenelo! I am editor and creative director of A Vintage Splendor, a lifestyle blog, that inspires and teaches how to shop for vintage and integrate into your home and wardrobe for unique style. Due to popular demand and general interest, I now also host vintage shopping tours throughout Los Angeles at vintage shops, thrift stores and flea markets. As if that didn’t keep me busy enough, I also own a boutique agency (Splendor Digital) that develops digital marketing strategies and branded content for fashion, food, beauty and lifestyle brands.  I love spending time with my husband and daughter and exploring and checking out new and old places alike. I also volunteer for Baby2Baby and Alliance of Moms, two organizations that are very important to me.

What time do you typically get up and go to bed? I wake up around 6:30 AM and go to bed around 10:30PM.

What’s your go to beverage? COFFEE and wine!

Name 3 things every woman should have in her closet: A vintage blazer, vintage Chanel bag, and vintage Levis.

What’s your favorite adult beverage to serve guests when entertaining at home? I love entertaining and having a signature cocktail at every party is a must. My favorite is a large batch vodka gimlet.

Large Batch Vodka Gimlet

  • 20 oz. Vodka (I typically use Grey Goose or Belvedere)
  • 10 oz. fresh lime juice
  • 6 oz. Simple Syrup or Honey
  • 3 Limes thinly sliced
  • Prep: Mix all ingredients with plenty of ice in punch bowl or dispenser and stir.

What’s one thing everyone can do to make their home more stylish? Always have fresh flowers! This is something I got from my Mom and ever since I’ve lived on my own (and now hubby), we always have fresh flowers at our house.

What’s your favorite thing to bring to a party? I love to bring a personalized gift for the host or hostess. If they love to read, I’ll shop for a fun, vintage book about entertaining. If they are a cook, tea towels and a nice wood cutting board.

How do you format your emails? I’m really short and to the point. For friends, I always sign “xx”, but business emails are always either “Thank you” or “Best”

What’s the most recent thing someone did that impressed you? I have to say it was my daughter who impressed me. She managed to open up my blush compact, dab the correct brush on it, and then apply it on her face! She’s barely 2 and always a beauty pro!

What mistake do you see people constantly make that they should be aware of? Never responding back to emails! I know we’re all guilty of it, but not responding to an email is akin to not responding to someone when they ask how you’re doing.

What other pieces of advice/tips can you share? Always, always, always be nice. It really doesn’t take much effort to smile, say hello, and treat others with respect.
