A Sneak Peek of Our Stairway Gallery Wall

Hello my friends! Are we really back to the work week? Ugh! I feel so behind and overwhelmed right now. Anyone else?

For some reason, summer brings on a slew of home projects. Anything on your list?

One of the recent DIY projects we just finished {well, almost!} is our stairway gallery wall. It was fairly inexpensive {thanks to a major hack I discovered} and makes a nice statement in your home.

It’s the first thing you notice when you walk through the front door. And best of all, it brings back wonderful memories every time you walk past it. For me, those memories are walking down the aisle with my dad, drinking Caribbean beer on a beach in Barbados on our honeymoon and a family vacation to Nantucket. Which is what a home is all about! Showing off YOUR personal style.

How Our Gallery Wall is Different

I’ve seen a lot of awesome gallery walls in my days – online and in real life. And honestly, as long as you love it, it’s perfect. But I REALLY wanted ours to feel curated, unique and more art driven. I wasn’t looking for a full on family album but I also didn’t want it to be full of online art everyone has either. Luckily I found a great balance. So if a stranger walked into our home, they’d find it interesting but still very personal to us at the same time.

The Problem With Gallery Wall Tutorials

Since collecting and curating a stairway gallery wall was WAY more overwhelming than I expected, I’m working on a series sharing our EXACT process. I found a TON of gallery wall tutorials. But they gloss over sooooooo many steps…

Like how to pick the frames. How to pick the photographs that go in ‘said’ frames. How does one even afford all the frames {Geeesh! The big ones go for $500+!}. How to make the photographs look good inside the frames {formatting is a PAIN in the you know what!}. And what do you pick first? The pictures or the frames? And don’t even get me started on the layout! Do you put the photos in the frames BEFORE or after? How does one even do a layout on a slanted wall? What if I have frames but they need to be matted? SEE! NOT. EASY.

So tell me…

What Specific Questions Do You Have?

As I work on this series, let me know what you want to learn! Have you tried doing a gallery wall before? What did you find the most intimidating? Do you want to do one but haven’t? Leave your question/s on my Instagram post here. Or shoot me an email here!
