Mamma Mia! Becoming a mom forced me to reassess everyday processes like its my job.

When your time becomes a fraction of what it used to be, efficiency is your new best friend.

One of those processes? Laundry. UGH!

Tell me you HATE it as much as I do?!

My mom helps out with a few loads when she watches P-money {aka my child} once a week. Thank the Lord, baby Jesus for her! After expressing my frustration of the never ending piles, she gave me a few tips.

I found them really helpful so I’m passing them along to you!

I also added a few secrets of my own. Like incorporating laundry piles into you living room decor. And how to fold a load uninterrupted with a baby. I’m good like that.

Once you read the list, leave a tip of your own so we can all help each other!

7 Ways To Do Laundry Faster

ONE // When you don’t have the energy. Take a few minutes to just sort your clothes. It’s quick but goes a long way. So when you’re motivated to get washing, everything is organized and set up to just pop loads in!

TWO // Reduce your drying steps from three to one. I currently use a drying rack. But my mom made the most brilliant suggestion, that saves mega time. Skip the drying rack and hang clothes to dry on hangers instead. You may already do this but it’s never occurred to me! Once your clothes are dry you can hang them right in the closet! Versus putting them on the rack, taking them off the rack and then hanging them on the hanger. To help you remember, throw empty hangers in your dirty laundry basket!

THREE // Stop forgetting. Set a timer as soon as you start the wash. I actually tell Siri to “set a timer for 45 minutes”.   This keeps things moving along and prevents wet clothes from sitting in the washer too long…only to have to re wash everything. Guilty!

FOUR // Save time by organizing. Organize clean, folded clothes by drawers. This way you can put ALL your shirts, pants, underwear, etc. away all at once. This is especially helpful if doing multiple loads in one day.

FIVE // The night before, pre-load the washer with one load. Set the timer to start washing at 5 AM and move it at 6 AM when you wake. By doing the washing and drying in one day (versus over night), you don’t forget to change the washer to the dryer!

SIX // If you have a baby…When folding clothes, plop those chubby legs right in the laundry basket. Feel free to add a few toys too. Penelope LOVES this! I think she feels cozy? I can get an entire load folded without distraction, plus she’s contained. WIN.

SEVEN // Disguise. For the days and weeks you just can’t get it together, cute laundry baskets work WONDERS! Piles of dirty or unfolded clothes in a stylish bin blend in with your decor {I compiled a few options for you to browse at the end if you need some too!}. I found these sweet baskets from Target for just $14! Julia from Gal Meets Glam posted them on her IG stories and I bought them immediately. They’re also collapsible – saving tons of space when not in use! I also plan on ordering this one from Serena & Lily for Penelope’s room. Can double as a toy basket and the wheels will come in handy

Okay – now it’s your turn to help settle the score.

Do you do one load every day or do laundry all at once? Any tips of your own?

Despite all these great tips, I swear mountains of dirty clothes pop up out of NOWHERE! So be sure to leave a tip to share with everyone else. Every little bit helps, right?
